LOCAL darts professional Ryan Searle (pictured) has beaten world number one Michael van Gerwen to win the third round of the PDC Players Championship at Wigan at the weekend.

The former window cleaner pocketed £10,000 in prize money and competes in rounds five and six of the championship in Wigan this weekend before flying off to Belgium for a European Tour event.

The following weekend he will be competing in the UK Championship in Minehead, such is the life of a successful darts player.

Ryan played in the Wellington Darts League until last winter.
