PUBLIC notices cover a range of applications, from licensing for liqueur or entertainment to planning applications, roadworks and other works.

Their intention is to inform communities of the latest plans in their area and such applications are considered for approval or refusal by local authorities.

Here are some of the latest applications submitted to Somerset Council in Wellington:

One day closure in Otterford

Somerset Council has made an order to temporarily close Honiton Road, Otterford, from its junction with Adcombe Lane to its junction with Whitehall Road, resulting in a total distance of 533 metres.

This order has been put in place to enable Openreach to carry out polling works.

The closure is only expected to last for six hours, starting at 9.30am and ending at 3.30pm on Thursday, December 11.

Brief closure at Budleigh Road

The temporary closure of Budleigh Road, Pitminster, has been ordered by Somerset Council from the road’s junction with Ruggin Road to its junction with Chelmsine Lane, for a total length of 340 metres.

The reason for this closure is to enable pole replacement works.

This closure is also expected to only last for six hours, starting at 9.30am and ending at 3.30pm on Thursday, November 27.

Smithy closed for five days

An order has been made by Somerset Council to temporarily close Smithy, Bishop’s Hull, between property number 21 to property 49a for a total distance of 97 metres.

This is being done to enable Wessex Water to renew a stop tap.

The closure will last for a whole working week, starting on Monday, November 24, to Friday, November 28, and will be in effect throughout all hours of the day.

Multiple closures in Bishop’s Lydeard

Somerset Council have ordered the closure of multiple roads in the village of Bishop’s Lydeard.

The first order will see the closure of both New Road and Bishpool Lane, in order to enable Kier to carry out drainage works on behalf of Somerset Highways.

New Road will be closed from 506 metres north-east of its junction with West Bagborough Road, where it incorporates Bishpool Lane, for a total distance of 78 metres.

These closures will last for 12 days, starting on Monday, December 8, and ending on Friday, December 19.

The second order affects Glanfield Close, which will be closed between Wednesday, December 10 to Friday, December 12, in order to enable Wales and West Utilities to carry out new connection works.
