LLOYDS Bank in Wellington has been given permission to carry out works to the entrance of its building in Fore Street.

Plans had been submitted to Taunton Deane Borough Council to make alterations to the entrance door of the branch with the removal of the outside steps and installation of an internal platform lift.

The plans also included changes to the layout inside to improve access and public areas.

A bank spokesman said: “It is hoped the proposed banking facilities will benefit the area and its endeavours to bring both new and existing customers to the bank.”

Wellington Town Council’s planning committee this month backed the application.
