AFTER 10 years or more of trying, the management committee of Huish Champflower Village Hall and King George V Memorial Field Trust succeeded in raising enough money to refurbish the building, which had grown very tired over the years.

The cash has come from many sources: The last village hall fund launched by ACRE three years ago, grants from the Bernard Sunley Foundation, the Garfield Weston Foundation, the Rank Foundation and the Fairfield Charitable Trust; the National Lottery Fund contributed more than half of the £250,000 budget and the trust had raised about £30,000 through local donations and fund-raising events.

Planning permission has been granted and once the bat licence is issued the work should start - hopefully by the end of June.

Ware Construction, a local builder, is the lead contractor.   Croft Surveyors are managing the project.
