A WELLINGTON woman has been mugged outside her own front door in broad daylight after popping to her local shop.

Judith Bevan, 48, was outside her flat in White Hart Lane on Bank Holiday Monday when her attacker pushed her against the front door and wrenched her purse from her hand.

Police spokeswoman Claire Stanley said: "We received a call about a robbery on the High Street in Wellington at around 5.30pm on Monday, May 27. A man pushed a woman outside her address and made off with her purse.

"We'd like to speak to a man who is described as white, around 6ft tall, of a medium build with dark short hair.

"He was wearing a dark coloured long sleeve top and bottoms. "Anyone who saw this man or witnessed this crime is asked to call us on 101 quoting crime reference number 50718/13."
