POLICE are appealing for information about two youths after the old changing room building at the entrance to The Rec in Wellington was badly damaged in a fire yesterday (Tuesday) morning.

PCSO Steve Hill from the town police station said the youths were seen running away after two explosions were heard coming from the building.

A member of the public called police about the incident at 11am and described the youths as of skinny build wearing black or dark clothing.

PCSO Hill is appealing for witnesses to the incident or anyone with knowledge of who was responsible to come forward.

He is also asking parents to keep the incident in mind should a youngster come home with burnt or charred clothing, or injuries that could have been sustained in a fire.
