A MAN has been arrested following a crossbow attack on another man in Wellington late on Monday (June 9).

The second man suffered a wound from a crossbow bolt in the incident, which happened in Wardleworth Way at about 9.50 pm.

The wounded man, aged in his 30s, was treated at the scene by paramedics before being taken for treatment in Musgrove Park Hospital, in Taunton.

An Avon and Somerset Police spokesperson said the man’s injuries were not believed to be life-threatening.

A man, aged in his 40s, was arrested nearby on suspicion of wounding with intent and he remained in police custody on Tuesday while an investigation continued.

Two police cars were seen parked in Wardleworth Way on Tuesday and a police cordon was in place while the investigation was taking place.

Neighbourhood Inspector Joe Piscina said: “This was a shocking incident and a full investigation is well underway, although we do believe it involved two people who were known to each other.

“Fortunately, the victim escaped more serious injuries and he has now been discharged from hospital to continue his recovery at home.
