Police say officers searching for a missing man have found a body in Wellington.

The Avon and Somerset force issued the statement after they were called to a roadside area on the Cades Farm estate.

Police vehicles attended Russet Close and a section of the roadside verge and undergrowth was taped off.

An area on the other side of the bushes bordering a children's play area was also taped off.

A police spokesperson said: "Police searching for a missing man have found a body in Wellington today, Thursday 22 December.

"Specialist officers were searching for Tim, 49, who has been missing since Wednesday 30 November.

"They found the body of a man at about 9am today in an area of shrubbery off Russet Close/Cades Mead. While the deceased has not been formally identified, Tim's next of kin have been made aware.

"Our thoughts are with them at this difficult time as we continue our enquiries to establish the man's identity and what has happened. The death is currently being treated as unexplained.
