“In Wellington we seem to be moving away from LPTs,” he said. “We have lost a PC and a PCSO, and now only have one PC and two PCSOs in the town to cover Wellington and the large surrounding area.”
The mayor, Cllr Bob Bowrah, said he had the telephone numbers of all the PCSOs and had tried to get through to them on occasions but without success.
That showed how thinly they were spread out 24/7 over such a big district and was not meant as a criticism of the PCSOs but illustrated the situation of police cover.
