FAMILY-run developer Summerfield has again supported the Christmas Sparkle charity which spreads festive cheer to disadvantaged children and families across the Taunton and Wellington area.

The Christmas Sparkle project aims to ensure every child living in difficult circumstances in the local community receives a gift at Christmas.

It has a number of collection points in Wellington for people who want to donate.

Summerfield, which has been developing the Westpark 26 business park in Chelston, has provided office space for the charity to run its project, setting up donation drop-off points, and offering staff volunteers to help gift wrap.

The firm also gave £1,000 to support Christmas Sparkle through the festive season.

Christmas Sparkle founder Gill Harrison said: “As in previous years we have had thousands of items generously donated, allowing us to bring joy by sending gifts to several thousand babies and children and young people around Taunton and Wellington.

“We are incredibly grateful to everybody who is able to make a donation, and to Summerfield for the continued support in making sure that those in need really do have something to smile about this Christmas.

“Sadly, there are many families facing difficulties and experiencing hardship, through no fault of their own.”

Christmas Sparkle welcomes new items suitable for all ages, ranging from baby toys and clothes, puzzles, family games, toiletries, through to products for teenage girls and boys such as make-up and aftershave.

Summerfield managing director James Holyday said: “Christmas Sparkle is a truly wonderful charity which we are delighted to be able to support each Christmas.

“Our staff always take great pleasure in getting involved, knowing how much these generous donations made will mean a lot to local families.”

Local schools, businesses, and groups collect brand new gifts for the charity, which works with other local charities, schools, and agencies supporting families in need.
