COUNCILLORS have thrown their support behind the Churches Together in Wellington group and its Big Tent event.
The group had asked Wellington Town Council for a £500 grant towards the Big Tent event which uses fun and activities to support children in Bible study.
The event – which costs about £5,300 to stage – is open across all local churches and has received town council support in previous years.
And 2019 will be no different with councillors giving a unanimous thumbs-up to the Big Tent.

Cllr Andrew Govier added: “It has been a long running event in Wellington and it is very popular. It provides a positive input into young people’s lives.”
And Cllr Sean Pringle-Kosikowsky said: “This is the sort of event the town needs as it brings people together.”
Members of the town council’s finance committee had initially supported the grant application and this was later verified by the full council.
