WELLINGTON Town Council staff are receiving lots of complaints from people about things which are nothing to do with the authority.

All candidates standing in Wellington Town Council by-election announcedTown clerk Kathryn Hemensley told councillors at their latest meeting that they received a ‘fair number of complaints’ concerning other councils’ services such as damaged fencing, fly-tipping and overgrown footpaths.
And although she said they try to help, they sometimes ask if that person could get in touch with the relevant authority whether it be Somerset County Council or the Somerset West & Taunton Council.
“We generally pass the complaints on to the right council for the resident but on occasions we may ask them to report issues themselves,” said Ms Hemensley.
A complaint about the town centre floral decorations including hanging baskets and troughs dying through a lack of water, for example, was reported to the localities engagement team at SWT, while a second request led to dead plants being replaced to ensure that the area still looked attractive.
