MORE than £1,000 profit was made an an evening auction of promises held at Hemyock parish hall.

The evening, organised by the Friends of St Mary’s, with Ron White as auctioneer, saw more than 60 lots going under the hammer.

Promises of food and drink, gardening, floral arrangements, day trips, family history research, accommodation in a camping barn and vouchers were among the goods on offer and were soon snapped up with a number of lots attracting competitive bidding.

Coffee, tea and wine, along with light refreshments, were then enjoyed by everyone.
