Man found dead on shoreline thought to be missing Christmas Day swimmer Matthew UphamWetherspoon has been keen to open a pub in Wellington for years and the £2.3 million venue will open its doors to the public on Tuesday.
Work on The Iron Duke in the old town hall – WWN readers named the pub – began in late February, ending speculation Wetherspoon had pulled out of the costly project.
It is the second big pub venture in Wellington, the Green Dragon in South Street having undergone a £400,000 refurbishment earlier this year before
re-opening.
This has already become popular with diners and is only 100 yards from The Iron Duke.
