CHILDREN from Rockwell Green Primary School (right) have once again shown understanding of the role of the Royal British Legion (RBL) and the work carried out supporting those who have served in the armed forces.
The youngsters entered a competition held during an event at Dunkirk Memorial House near Bishops Lydeard commemorating the centenary of the end of First World War.
They were invited to produce a piece of craft showing their feelings and understanding of the sacrifices made during a war.
Some 31 pieces of art were made by every age group across the school. Models contained words showing not only appreciation of the sacrifices made by so many but also an understanding of what service personnel went through.

These were presented during a morning assembly when branch members attended, accompanied by the Wellington branch standard and the Wellington Women’s Section standard.
Mr Critchard said: “The RBL in Wellington has an excellent relationship with the school and its children. They never fail to amaze us with their understanding of what the RBL does or of the loss of lives during both world wars, which to them is history now. We want to extend the relationship we have with Rockwell Green to all of the schools in Wellington and the surrounding villages.”
Headteacher Morwenna Dunstan added: “The children were invited to enter this competition and to make their entries at home, so all of this brilliant work has been made in their own time. A huge thank you to the children for producing entries of such high quality and so thought provoking.”
