DEDICATED Year 6 pupils from Beech Grove Primary School in Wellington presented a professional five-minute speech on the history of the Wellington Monument at the Children’s Parliament in Taunton.
They shared memories from the community and put over a positive view of how and why money should be spent to repair and enhance the Monument and its site.
Competing against 11 other schools from across the county they came third, earning themselves a family ticket to Wookey Hole.

AS reported in the WWN last week, the National Trust has been left pondering its next move after the Heritage Lottery Fund rejected its bid to apply for funding which would have covered more than half the cost of repairing Wellington Monument.
