VILLAGERS in the Wiveliscome area have called on the police to crack down on illegal raves they say are making their lives a misery.

Up to three hundred young people are attending the all-night events in nearby woods and fields.

Locals claim they leave a trail of broken fences and litter and sleepless villagers who complain the noise is defeaning.

A reveller who spoke to the WWN said three hundred young people recently turned up for a rave at a quarry near Brompton Ralph.

"We pass on the location using e-mail or the internet," he said.
