THE Mayor of Wellington, Cllr Bob Bowrah, will open this year’s Welly Boot, being held on the playing fields at Court Fields School.

He will also introduce Wellington Major-ettes for their display in the main throwing area before the competition begins.

Wellington Experience is organising the event – being held on Saturday, September 10, from noon – for the eighth year running.

Wellington Action Group for Dogs is hosting a dog show, the Federation of Sports is putting on mini taster sessions for children and live music includes Wellington Silver Band.

Other attractions include Wellington Bouncy Castles, children’s entertainers Ta’Daa and a children/dog agility course, plus a wide variety stands and a raffle. The Vintage bar and hog roast and The Sandwich Stop will provide refreshments.

The event has two throwing areas – a mini welly throwing area for tens and under and a larger area for over-tens. Entrance is free but a charge is made for entering the welly boot throwing.

Local businesses have sponsored the event helping organisers to buy banners for advertising, trophies and medals.

Businesses in the Wellington area are asked to support the event by giving a raffle prize. Profits raised from the raffle will go to The Friends of Wellington Park.

Local businesses and organisations are invited to have a stand at the event to promote themselves.
