THIS year marks the tenth anniversary of the World Wellington Boot Throwing Championship being held on the playing fields of Court Fields School, Wellington, on Saturday.

Town Mayor Cllr Gary James is opening the event at noon and will introduce Wellington Majorettes, who will give a display.

Wellington Silver Band start the live music at 1pm, with a ukulele group playing from 2-3pm. Fodo Higginson provides the music from 3-5pm - a selection of groove, soul, reggae and more.

Free face painting is available all day for children and adults, and South West Inflatables is providing the bouncy castle area.

The Mount Veterinary Hospital is hosting a dog show which starts at 1pm - entries on the day.

Entry is free to the event with a low charge for entering the competitions. Medals, trophies and shields, sponsored by Wellington businesses, will be presented to the winners at 5pm. The Vintage is supplying a hog roast and bar, along with a selection of gins. Ice creams are from Styles Ice Cream.

This year’s raffle profits will be given to WHERE, The Northfield Centre, North Street, Wellington. Tickets are available from WHERE before the event and on the day. King’s Cycles, North Street, Wellington, has given the first prize.
