A WELLINGTON man has warned that ‘someone will be killed’ if motorists do not slow down in Pyles Thorne Road.

Malcolm South, who has lived in Oakfield Park, Wellington, for 40 years with his wife Pat, says drivers are reaching speeds of 60mph in a 20mph zone.

“There is a total blind spot near our home and drivers are aware of this and don’t slow down,” he said. “Sooner or later someone will be killed.

“The problem is there are no checks made by the police. I have never seen a policeman around here. I don’t ever remember the council taking up this issue, although they are fully aware of it.

“It is disgraceful – no-one cares. There is an opening half way down the road used by parents taking and returning from Wellesley Park School. It is remarkable there has not been a serious accident. Mothers must be very worried about their children. It’s very dangerous.”
