A CROWDFUNDING campaign has been launched to help pay for construction of a £175,000 pump track in Wellington.

Wellington Town Council is leading a project to put the pump track in its recreation ground, close to Court Fields School, in partnership with the Wellington Sports Federation and Wellington Pumptrack, Skatepark and Dirt Jumps – Somerset.

It will provide a facility designed for riders of all ages and abilities to enjoy cycling, scooting, and skating in a safe, inclusive, and inspiring environment.

Pump tracks are a continuous circuit designed to be used by wheeled equipment where momentum is maintained by a ‘pumping’ motion rather than pedalling.

A council spokesperson said: “This project has already gained strong local backing, and the town council has secured some of the funding needed toward the total cost and is actively looking for grant funding opportunities to provide further funding.

“Now, we are inviting the wider community to get involved and invest in what will be a fantastic facility for the town.

“We are launching a crowdfunding campaign to part‑fund the construction of the pump track, and every contribution, large or small, brings us closer to making this long‑awaited facility a reality.

“If you believe in giving young people more opportunities, improving local facilities, and investing in the future of our town, we invite you to contribute to the Wellington Pump Track Project.”

The high‑quality, durable track will be built to modern safety standards to provide a new recreational asset for current and future generations and strengthen community pride and investment in Wellington’s shared spaces.

The spokesperson said: “It enhances the recreation ground as a vibrant hub for sport and play and supports Wellington’s long‑term vision for improved community wellbeing and outdoor activity.”

A GoFundMe page has been set up for donations and has already raised nearly £200 toward a target of £1,400.
