FATHER Christmas and his 25 elves from Wellington’s two Rotary Clubs collected a record £3,700 for charity when they toured the town in the run up to the festive season.

The money will go to organisations including Alzheimer’s Research, the local air ambulance and international medical charity DEBRA.

President Mike Webb said: “The amazing generosity of townsfolk will make a difference to many lives and on behalf of the club I would like to say a sincere ‘thank you’ to everyone. Happy new year.”
