WELLINGTON Carnival Committee is looking for the next Royal family to represent the town from the start of July over the next 12 months.
All applicants must be available to attend the Royalty Pageant on Sunday, June 26, and the winners must be available to represent the town at least at the following engagements: Wellington Carnival on Saturday, September 24; Ilminster Carnival on Saturday, October 1; Chard Carnival on Saturday, October 8, and Taunton Carnival on Saturday, October 15.
Some or all of the Royal Family will be required to attend a variety of additional community engagements and Royalty will also be required to help with fundraising initiatives.
The winners will receive a magical Somerset-style Royal experience. All applicants will need to pay a minimum entry fee of £15 at the pageant – this includes a professional photo shoot for the applicant by Unwin Photography, drink and buffet for the applicant and a guest. Sponsorship can be sought to cover the entry fee and any additional money paid over the £15 will be added to the applicant’s score at ten points for every £10 of sponsorship.
Princes and Princesses must be aged from seven to 15, and Kings and Queens must be aged over 16 on the date of Wellington Carnival.
Applicants should wear their best attire for the pageant and they will be asked a selection of questions in front of the audience and scored by a small independent panel. A buffet will be served while the panel makes its decision and the winners will be announced on the day.
