ARTISTS of all sorts are opening up their places of work once again for this year’s Somerset Open Studios.

Some 208 venues and nearly 300 artists are taking part in the event, which runs until Sunday, October 2. Among them, in the Wellington area, are:

John Abraham of The Courtyard Studio, Heatherton Park House, Bradford-on-Tone. He paints in acrylics, usually depicting dramatic skies over sea or landscapes.

Sylvia Lindley and Ophelia Lindley of Nowers Farm, Popes Lane, Wellington. Both are inspired by countryside, animals, landscape and architecture. Sylvia works mainly in oils with some acrylic; Ophelia in watercolour and some mixed media.

Veronica Gayle is at The Old Brick Workshop, Higher Poole. Veronica creates colourful abstract collages, paintings and drawings inspired by the surrounding environment.

Fons Cosens is at Nynehead Court, Wellington. A pop-up studio will showcase sculpture made using Somerset willow and recycled wire.

Teresa Wilson is at 9 Saxon Close, Oake. Teresa’s abstract paintings are inspired by the work of Hans Hofman and Helen Frankenthaler.

Caroline McMillan Davey is at Willow Acre Barn, Chipley. Caroline has been a professional artist for over 25 years.

Other artists are exhibiting at The Old School, Sand Street, Milverton; Bicknells, Bathealton; above Hurstone Studios, Waterrow; The Bear Inn, Wiveliscombe; and at Fordgate Cottage, Ford, Wiveliscombe.
