STARGAZERS young and old can enjoy two evenings at Burlescombe and Westleigh Community Hall.

UK Space Ambassador Jo Richardson will run and present the events, the first ‘Aboard the International Space Station and a Salute to Major Tim Peake’ on Friday, November 25, at 6.30pm.

The second, ‘Stargazing’, is in January and timed to coincide with BBC Stargazing Live. It will look at constellations, planets, how stars are made, the sun and the moon and teach visitors how to orientate themselves using the stars.

Both events will have professional telescopes and astronomical binoculars set up with expert help from Mid Devon Astronomical Society.

The evenings are designed to appeal to adults and school age children, as well as anyone with some astronomical knowledge. Activities will be on offer for children to consolidate their learning.
