Sir Ed Davey MP, interim leader of the Leader Democrats after the recent General Election, has visited Wellington company Pritex to get a better understanding of the challenges facing the industry.
He was joined by Somerset West & Taunton Council Leader Federica Smith-Roberts, Wellington town councillor Mark Lithgow and Liberal Democrat parliamentary spokesperson for Taunton Deane Gideon Amos.
Pritex, which manufactures acoustic and thermo-acoustic insulation products for diverse applications in the automotive, industrial and comfort sectors, employs more than 150 people.
Sir Ed Davey said: “It’s important that we seek to protect key jobs in local industry as we prepare for Brexit. Pritex is an example of a terrific niche employer that provides important work.”
Sir Ed later was later guest speaker at the annual Taunton Deane Liberal Democrat dinner at Somerset County Cricket Club where he spoke on the importance of reuniting the county after Brexit and how the Liberal Democrats can progress. They were also joined by Leader of South Somerset Council, Val Keitch.
