TWO young Wellington sisters whose mother died earlier this year from cancer will be running in the London Marathon to raise money for St Margaret’s Hospice in Taunton.
Their mother Janet Heal, 66, who lived in St John’s Close, died in June, only a month after being diagnosed with the disease.
Daughters Alison Longley, 44, and Paula Wadham, 46, who are both married with young families, are already in training for the marathon which will be held on Sunday, April 23, Paula’s first wedding anniversary.
“Mum was only in the hospice for two weeks but they looked after her wonderfully well,” said Alison. “Before this she was in the Beacon Centre.
“We feel we want to give something back to the hospice and we have a target of £4,000.”
Alison and Paula have both run half-marathons before but ‘that was 20 years ago’.
The pair, who are calling themselves the MarathonSisters, are holding a jumble sale at Wellington Community Centre in White Hart Lane on Saturday from 10am to noon, with proceeds going to the hospice.
