Cllr Bob Bowrah said he was sad about the loss of another skittle alley, pointing out that the Green Dragon pub in South Street had closed only a short time ago.
His sentiments were shared by Cllr Andrew Govier who felt that the plan might be the first step to losing the pub in the future, which would mean the loss of another facility in the town. He considered it might eventually move over to just providing accommodation. The loss of the alley could affect the overall viability of the pub.
Taunton Deane Borough Council will make the final decision on the application.
