STREET Pastors with a mission to help vulnerable young people stay out of trouble are about to start patrolling Wellington's streets after hours in a country-wide first for the pioneering scheme.
Members of the patrols, from a number of churches in the area, will engage with people on the streets to care, listen and talk as pubs and clubs close.
The local launch of the scheme takes place at Wellington Junior School on Wednesday, September 2.
A Commissioning Service is to be held at Wellington Baptist Church on Sunday, September 20, when all the new Street Pastors in the town will be commissioned and issued with their certificates of training.
