STREET Pastors with a mission to help vulnerable young people stay out of trouble are to start patrolling Wellington's streets on Carnival Night on Saturday.

The new Street Pastors were commissioned and issued with their certificates of training at a commissioning service at Wellington Baptist Church on Sunday.

Street Pastors will look out for vulnerable people, such as women walking alone after hours, and organise taxis or telephone relatives.
