Some students and families donated Christmas gifts for youngsters in Musgrove Park Hospital in Taunton as part of Court Fields School’s non-uniform day for Children in Need.

The Christmas gifts were handed over by the Wellington School’s acting headteacher Polly Matthews (right) to Sarah Kana-ah last week.

Sarah (left), who holds the title of Ms Somerset Atlantic, has been organising a project for people in the local community, including schools and businesses, to donate items.

Sarah thanked the school for the donations and said the children at Musgrove would be very happy with the gifts.

Mrs Matthews was delighted to be able to support the local hospital. She said: “Our students and families were so generous in donating to support vulnerable families and young people in our community.

“Instead of the usual £1 donation for our Non-Uniform Day for Children in Need, students brought mainly food items to donate to our local food bank, and also a small amount of Christmas gifts, which we are very pleased to donate to children at Musgrove Park Hospital.

“It’s certainly a mark of the kindness and compassion of our students that they not only donated so much to help children in need in their community, but also asked to support our local area in and around Wellington with food and gifts.

“We also raised money for the national Children in Need charity through donations of change on the day. I’d like to thank all our students, staff and parents for their generosity.”
