THE Exmoor Challenge competition, organised and run by the Rotary Club of Exmoor, had glorious weather over the Bank Holiday weekend with more than 110 school teams competing and completing the 16-mile hike out of Dulverton.

Court Fields, which has been participating in this challenge for four years, took six teams with all except one student completing the course and receiving a medal from Rotary members. Court

Fields Team 2 came an impressive sixth out of 24 all-girl teams while Court Fields 6 came fifth and Court Fields 5 came seventh out of 51 mixed teams.

Teams accumulated penalty points over the course if they were early or late to each checkpoint or missed vital clues to a survey on route.

Headteacher Rachael Bennett said: “This is a superb event that builds individual character and teamwork while building fitness and stamina. We have taken students on practice walks with staff and parents supporting students to achieve this challenging walk.

“We have a great range of outdoor pursuit activities at Court Fields run by a committed team of staff who are fully trained in moorland hiking and camping.”
