BACON butty-powered early morning dips by women swimmers have been helping fund-raising for a new pool house for Wiveliscombe’s outdoor swimming pool.

Wivey Pool has now closed temporarily to allow a start on building works in the next few days while swimmers look forward to the spring of next year.

A spokesperson said: “A huge ‘thank you’ to everybody who supported our early morning bacon butty swims.

“Your kind donations not only covered the butties but also funded a small gift for each of our 26 amazing lifeguards who give their time to keep us safe.

“Without them we could not enjoy our wonderful Wivey Pool

“We are also delighted to have raised over £200 toward the big winter build, bringing the Pool House one step closer.”
