WELLINGTON health officials are bracing themselves for an outbreak of swine flu.

Both the town's medical centres - Bulford Medical Centtre and the Luson Surgery - are on standby with emergency plans in place to deal with any crisis.

Public health experts throughout Somerset are implementing new national guidance regarding the treatment and management of swine flu.

Bulford Medical Centre practice manager Lydia Daniel-Baker told the WWN: "We have had enquiries from people with possible symptoms in Wellington.

"The current process is that patients should contact the centre if they are worried."

Health chiefs revealed on Sunday they are preparing to vaccinate the entire population against swine flu.
