SYMON Jeffrey, a former partner of Wellington estate agents Wilkie, May & Tuckwood and a past president of one of the town’s two rotary clubs, has died at the age of 52 following a long fight with cancer.

A statement from the estate agents issued on Wednesday said: "We know that all who knew Symon will be devastated by the news but will remember him fondly as such a kind and brilliant man. We are sending our condolences to all his friends and family."

Ken Wilkie, a founder member of the business who retired 13 years ago, said: "Symon was a devoted husband and father to his two children and also well respected and highly regarded in his professional career as he ran the High Street Office of Wilkie May & Tuckwood.

"He was deeply committed to providing an exemplary service to his clients and continued to lead his staff despite his long illness. He had a natural good humour and cheery disposition which earned him the respect and confidence of his team and clients alike.

"He was a good and loyal friend to all and his sunny personality and wide smile will be sorely missed."
