The weather turned out perfectly for a day of running at Taunton and 170 runners took part in the full marathon with more than 700 in the half-marathon.
Adam was representing Tavistock Athletic Club and finished the race in a time of 2.34.36 - about 90 seconds ahead of the runner-up. Tom Merson from Exmouth Harriers won the shorter race in 1.07.06.
Adam, who also holds other world records, plans to run ten marathons in the Lake District starting on Friday, May 13.
