PUPILS from Wellesley Park Primary School in Wellington were given a licence to thrill at a special James Bond-themed party organised by parents.
Youngsters from Year 6 were treated to an evening of glamour, sophistication and fun to mark the end of their primary school education.
On arrival the boys in their dinner jackets and girls in their best party dresses were photographed next to a stunning black Aston Martin Vantage courtesy of GMR Design managing director Graham Heane.
After entering their party venue in the school hall via a red carpet the budding MI6 agents were able to experience the thrills and spills of a casino with roulette, baccarat and Black Jack tables as well as taste ‘Mocktails’ which, of course, were shaken and not stirred.
The idea was the inspiration of mums Carol Watts and Vickie Harrison who had been planning the Bond bash since April.
Vickie said: “We wanted to give the children a leavers’ celebration with a difference and came up with the idea of a James Bond night, as we know a lot of the pupils enjoy the films.
“This was to give them a night to remember to mark the end of their time at Wellesley Park and nearly the whole year group have come to experience what we hope to be an exciting evening for them.”
The guests were also wowed by the talented skills of Duncan Pallant, who performed close up magic leaving the youngsters truly amazed.
Mums and dads were transformed into beautiful Bond girls serving canapés and nibbles on trays and dashing suave croupiers as well as MI6 security staff who ensured everyone behaved themselves.
There were also dressing up opportunities with a photo booth, a chocolate fountain and a 007-themed quiz, and all the children received a goody bag filled with Bond-inspired goodies, sweets and chocolate.
Decorations were made and organised by parents with some props loaned by Wellington Arts Centre, including a 10ft tall James Bond silhouette.
Carol said: “We would like to thank everyone who helped with the event either by giving their time or donating items.
“The youngsters had a really good time and we had comments such as ‘awesome’ and ‘it was the best night ever’, and I think many of the parents enjoyed themselves, too!”
A huge box of chocolate bars was given to the player with the most chips at the end and bouquets were presented to Vickie and Carol for all their hard work.
