WELLINGTON’S annual carnival on Saturday was blessed with a clear, moonlit night – and thousands watched the cavalcade.

The only disappointment was that the collection was £600 down on the previous year casting doubts over its “sustainability as a stand-alone event.”

Organiser Louise Brierley said detailed planning before the event paid off because things on the night ran as smoothly as could be anticipated.

Earlier in the day, Clare Hutchings co-ordinated the day for Miss Wellington Leona Jolly and her two princesses, Ellie Norris and Kaitlyn Road, starting with breakfast, courtesy of Blackdown Garden Centre.
