RUNNER Tina Collin, of Dobree Park, Rockwell Green, is getting set to tackle her greatest distance yet.
Tina, 40, who only took up running in 2011 to get fit, plans to run in the 100km South Coast Challenge at the end of August and expects the run to take 17 to 20 hours. Tina said: “Wish me luck, it’s going to take everything I have and more.”
She runs about three ultra-marathons of 30 miles or more a year, using half-marathons for training, and runs for different charities – this time the Motor Neurone Disease Association.
Tina, an AI technician based at South Molton with Genus UK, is considering running in the Iceland Challenge, which involves four marathons in four days, next year.
Rockwell Green Memorial Club is staging a charity bingo night on Saturday, July 23, in support of Tina’s good cause.
The South Coast Challenge is on Saturday and Sunday, August 27-28, starting in Eastbourne, going up over Beachy Head, over chalk cliffs through the Seven Sisters Country Park and along the South Downs Way before finishing in Arundel.
