A TOWN centre road in Wellington is to be closed to nighttime traffic for 11 nights from next week as a major resurfacing project begins.

North Street will be shut along 230 yards (211 metres) from its Fore Street/High Street junction to the public car park access next to Wellington Fire Station.

Somerset Council highways contractors Heidelberg will carry out resurfacing work between 6.30 pm and 11.30 pm nightly.

The closure takes effect on Monday, November 17, and will continue until Thursday, November 27.

Heidelberg is the firm which recently completed the resurfacing of the Chelston to M5 link road and the roundabout beneath the motorway, finishing it three weeks ahead of schedule.
