WELLINGTON has lost its oldest surviving link with the Second World War with the death of Ralph Buttle.
Known affectionately in the town as 'Ralphie', he lived in Churchfields and died in the early hours of Friday aged 93.
Town Mayor Andrew Govier said yesterday: "He always had a story to tell and was a treasured member of the community."
