Blackdowns Early Music Projects’ Spring Festival continues with two recitals this weekend, both at All Saints Church in Culmstock.

The church is a perfect venue for chamber music and on Friday (May 24) Lynda Sayce will play and demonstrate members of the lute family from 6.30pm. She is one of Britain’s leading lutenists and performs regularly with leading period instrument ensembles worldwide.

Lynda joins fellow members of the group Newe Vialles, Caroline Ritchie and Henrik Persson, to play a programme of dazzling music for two viola da gambas and theorbo on Saturday (May 25) at 8pm.

Tickets for the recitals are £10 full price, £5 students (under-12s free) and are available from www.blackdownsearlymusic.co.uk or by emailing blackdowns

The festival was set to begin at St John’s church in Wellington on Sunday with Felix Austriae.
