NYNEHEAD is going big for the Queen’s 90th birthday by holding a series of events in the village on Saturday.

Events include a sports day, parade of motorised vehicles, strawberry fair and a street party. The timetable of events is:

11am to noon – the hall will be open for donations of finger food, raffle prizes and setting up for the street party in the afternoon. People should bring any memorabilia, portraits of the Queen for the children’s competition and items for the entertainment.

11.15am – Parade of motorised vehicles line up in Lime Avenue at the Court (from 11.30am).

2pm – John Walker Band playing at the Court.

2.15pm – Grand opening of the Strawberry Fair at the Court. There will be stalls, Wellington Majorettes, children’s activities and strawberry teams. A garden party hat competition will also be held.

3pm – Children’s sports at the Court.

4pm onwards – Transfer to the Memorial Hall. The Court will be running a shuttle bus service between the Court and the Hall.

4.30pm – Village photograph at the Hall.

5pm – Entertainment by NADS, directed by Kathy Boyd.

5.30pm – Street party in the Hall.
