Villagers, family and friends gathered outside St Peter’s Church in Langford Budville to watch the annual switch-on of the Christmas tree lights.
The winners of the children’s Christmas decoration competition were asked to help Santa turn on the lights and receive their prizes from him. The decorations are displayed in church for visitors to see.
Afterwards villagers went into church to sing carols, the children received a gift from Santa and everyone enjoyed mulled wine, hot chocolate and festive nibbles provided by members of St Peter’s Church Friends.
Lynne Moore, for the group, said: “Many thanks to the Friends of St Peter’s Church for organising this most enjoyable community event and especially to Langford Lakes Christmas Tree Farm for the kind donation of the tree.
“The tree remains lit all through the seasonal period and is a joy to see on the approach to the village.”
