PUPILS and staff at Beech Grove Primary School in Wellington had great fun on an Egyptians-themed day.

The Year 3 and 4 youngsters dressed in costumes their parents had put together at home.

Somerset Heritage Learning visited the school to give children the chance to do an archaeological dig and make a scarab amulet - and make date bread in an Egyptian bake-off.

Pupils also had the chance to work on their Design and Technology Egyptian toy project, write using hieroglyphs and make their own papyrus-style paper.
