BUSINESSES, shops and organisations are being encouraged to get involved in the second Wellington Boot Walking Trail following the success of last year’s event marking the 200th anniversary of the Battle of Waterloo.

It is hoped that once again venues around the town will get involved in the trail, organised by Point Three Community Interest Company, by placing a commemorative Wellington Boot sign or planter in or outside their premises.

As last year the signs and planters will be distributed around Wellington for people to find in a bid to increase the footfall around the town.

Point Three director Peter Watts said: “We are building on the success of the trail last year which received such a positive response.

“We want to see as many businesses and organisations get involved with this to sponsor a sign or planter and proudly put these on display to get people talking and walking.”

The trail is set to be launched at the start of the school summer holidays.

The sponsor’s name will be attached to the front of the Wellington boot sign and planters and they will also feature in the walking trail booklets as well as other publicity.

Anyone who would like a sign or planter is asked to contact Peter Watts on 07761 485657 or email [email protected] by Thursday, June 17.
