MULTI award-winning charity Reminiscence Learning is working especially closely with the town council this month to help Wellington become a dementia inclusive town.
September is World Alzheimer's Month and both the charity and the council want to raise awareness of and challenge any stigma around the issue.
The charity now has a regular presence in the council’s new Kings Arms community hub.
A Reminiscence Learning spokesperson said: “This month is a chance to raise awareness, challenge stigma, and remind people that support and understanding can make a real difference.
“At Reminiscence Learning, we see every day the impact that Alzheimer’s and other types of dementia have on individuals, families, and communities.
“We are focussing on creating Wellington to be a dementia inclusive town, where people can get support and feel included.
“We all need to make dementia a priority.
“Whether by learning more, sharing stories, or supporting charities like ours, every action helps build a more compassionate and informed society.
“Join us in spreading awareness this September because everybody deserves to be seen, supported, and remembered.”
Reminiscence Learning offers specialist training, therapy, and community initiatives, including its Archie Project which works with local primary schools, and also a forestry school.
The spokesperson said: “We run a series of activity sessions and training workshops that are professional and educational, yet fun and practical.
“Dementia is not just about memory loss, it is about living with a changing reality.
“We focus on creating moments of connection and joy, supporting families and carers with practical tools and empathy, educating communities to be more dementia-aware through our Archie Project and our new community hub in Wellington.
“If you can help us in anyway just get in touch as we would love to hear from you.
“This could be volunteering, fund-raising, business support, leaving a legacy in your will, or donating a raffle prize.”
