FITNESS fanatics at Wellington Sports Centre have been getting to grips with new state-of-the-art equipment installed in the gym.

The gym underwent a major refurbishment and refit at the start of the month which saw all the existing fitness equipment replaced with state-of-the-art Technogym kit.

Gym users who want to browse the internet to keep up to date with latest fitness tips on YouTube or catch up on social media can do so on the cardio machines that have their own fully internet-accessible integrated television.

Two top-of-the-range Watt Bikes, the Trainer and the Pro, will benefit budding and professional cyclists as well as those who play other sports. A hand bike provides something a little different to incorporate into fitness workouts.

The gym has nearly double the number of free weights as before and a lick of paint has helped it feel open and fresh. Plasma screens now line the back wall upstairs playing a variety of media and the music system has been upgraded.

Replacement flooring has been installed with specialised rubber flooring in the free weights section and a new designated matted area.

Sports centre manager James Blake said: “The team is thrilled to be able to offer a new state-of-the-art gym to all its users. We have listened to what our members want and need to help them reach their fitness goals, so with the new refurbishment, we hope we can provide a first class gym workout and experience going forward.”

Fitness instructors are available to show customers how to use the machines and help customers set their own fitness goals.

Anyone who wants to join the gym on annual membership can get two months free.
