AS part of the nationwide initiative to celebrate the 90th birthday of HM The Queen a big clean-up of litter is taking place from March 4 to 6.

Wellington residents are asked to volunteer and put their names forward for a big litter pick being co-ordinated by the Basins Volunteer Group and organised by Cllr Bob Bowrah.

He said: “Names and areas you would like to be targeted are required as soon as possible so that teams can be organised. The litter pick for Wellington is on Saturday, March 5, starting at 10.00hrs, meeting at the Basins Container before being allocated an area to be covered.

“Tea/coffee will be provided on arrival. What do you need? If you have them, a yellow hi-vis jacket, gloves and a litter picker, although we will have limited supplies.

“Local businesses supporting this event are Waitrose, Greggs, Costa Coffee and the Rotary Club nationally.

“Children are also welcome but must be accompanied by an adult at all times.

“The contact number to phone is 01823 666739 and volunteer groups are welcome to put their names forward. If you have an email address please provide this as well so that you can be contacted for any update.”
