WELLINGTON Royalty have been fitted out with new dresses for their carnival tour of four Somerset towns.

That starts with their home town carnival on Saturday, September 29, before they take part in carnival processions in Ilminster, Chard and Taunton. The dresses will not be on display until Wellington Carnival procession commences.

But it isn’t all play for the girls – they have important roles to play after carnival, supporting federation balls, fundraising and assisting at other events carnival supports.

Chairman Dave Rylatt said: "We really thank the owners of Posh for fitting out the girls with such stunning dresses. While I haven’t been clothes shopping for many a year, I wasn’t aware that such quality clothing was available to buy in Wellington.

"If Wellington retailers can provide clothing of this quality, there must be some promise for our high streets."

Dave added: "Wellington Carnival organisers would like to thank Posh and all the other local businesses for supporting the carnival – we really could not run the event without your help."
